Join VegLife Des Moines as we host the compassionate alternative to BaconFest with a goal of raising funds to benefit Iowa Farm Sanctuary and Des Moines VeganFest 2019. While others in Des Moines will be celebrating the death of thousands of pigs, we'll be honoring their lives at this compassionate alternative, Peace Not Pork.

Tickets will be sold at the door and are on a sliding scale - you choose the price that's right for you!

Our friends from Iowa Farm Sanctuary will be on hand to share stories about the pigs at the Sanctuary, but also the realities for the other 20 million + pigs living in Iowa and how we can all get active and change the world for farmed animals.

We are excited to partner with SALT of the Hearth and BeerStyles who will graciously host us. A vegan menu of 5 items for $5 each will be available during the event. In addition, the restaurant will not serve pork that day in honor of our event - what a win for the pigs!

The 5 for $5 menu is as follows:
-Truffle Brussel Sprouts w/ Vegan Parmesan (also Gluten Free)
-Styles Black Bean/Sweet Potato Slider w/ house cut fries
-Red Miso Chili w/ Corn Bread & Maple Vegan Butter
-Slice of Vegan Pizza w/ housemade Mozz & Seitan Italian Sausage
-Blue Velvet Cup Cake (Chocolate cake w/Vegan Butter Cream & Blackberry Compote)

Chef Eli Trapp, our wonderful hostess, will do a cooking demo during the event of a vegan meat alternative!

Children will be tickled to take part in our pig centered crafts and activities.

The event will also feature a silent auction, with great vegan items from the likes of Simple Happy Kitchen, Brightside Kitchen, Envision Positive, Iowa Food Cooperative and more!

And to sweeten the deal, the first 15 VegLife DM newcomers (first time attending our events) will get some Peace Not Pork swag for free!
