Bennie is the first goat resident of Iowa Farm Sanctuary, and he wears that badge proudly. He came to IFS at just a week old, umbilical cord still attached. He was a runt, and the farmer did not have the time to bottle feed him, so he was going to be sent to the livestock auction. Instead, the farmer made the compassionate decision to surrender Bennie to IFS. Bennie was so tiny and malnourished when we got him that we didn't broadcast his arrival on social media in fear that he might not survive. After just a few days of bottle feeding, however, Bennie started to truly thrive at his forever home. He lived in the farmhouse for the first couple months of his life, and so he became very domesticated and loves to will follow humans around the pasture. He now spends his time with the big herd, living the life that he deserves.
