Sugar

Sugar was a Hereford pig that was found abandoned on the side of road in with her sister, Spice, by a very compassionate woman who just so happened to be a big supporter of IFS. When a sheriff arrived on the scene, he was fearful that the pigs were “wild” because of their hair, so they got animal control involved quickly. Our team got on the phones as soon as we heard the news and made sure the sheriff knew that the girls were not a threat (all pigs have hair!), and that they would have a place to live if no one claimed them. The Animal Rescue League of Iowa picked up the pigs and brought them quickly to safety—they were given their names by one of the ARL's summer interns. Sugar was incredibly sassy when we first met her, but her personality softened over time and she became quite friendly. She will be missed deeply, by her sister, the other IFS pigs, and all of the humans that grew to fall in love with her.
