Gennie was a beautiful, shy senior sheep. Gennie came to us from a small sheep farm in early Fall 2020 with her mother, Millie, and friends, Elsa and Leo. It’s highly unusual for biological families to be preserved in animal agriculture, so having both Gennie and her mother at the sanctuary was a rarity for which we are deeply thankful. At the time of her surrender, Gennie was 12 years old. This precious gal had some age-related ailments, like having lost all of her teeth, but she was remarkably spry for her advanced age.

Gennie remained closely bonded to Elsa and Leo up until she passed away in April of 2024. She also took on “grandmother” status for Clifford, Ravioli, and Suzy when they each arrived at the sanctuary as lambs. We saw the purity of Gennie’s heart in her every move and will miss her forever.
