Elsa
Elsa is a beautiful senior sheep who came to IFS in August 2020 after her caretakers had to move out of state. Elsa was accompanied by two other senior sheep, Millie and Gennie, and one young ram, Leo. While welcoming new sheep into the IFS family is always exciting, this rescue was extremely emotional, as the sheep came to us from the same farm as Eve, our beloved special needs lamb who passed away unexpectedly in February 2020. And, incredibly, Elsa is Eve’s biological mother!
The resemblance between Elsa and Eve is uncanny. When we look at Elsa, it’s as if we’re also looking at our sweet Eve. Eve was such an inspiration to so many people around the world, and she was loved fiercely by everyone who knew her. Having her mother here with us makes us feel close to her again. Life has come full circle, and now we can continue to honor Eve by caring for her mother.
While Millie has passed on, Elsa, Gennie, and Leo remain a closely bonded group, and they are never far apart. Even though she has arthritis, which is common in sheep her age, Elsa and her loved ones are always out exploring their new pasture. This precious momma is a little human-shy, but she loves to accept treats. It’s truly been an honor to have Elsa as a member of the IFS family.
